VOTER INFORMATION

Somerville Public Schools will hold a bond referendum on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 asking permission from voters to fund improvement to our schools’ infrastructure and facilities.

One vote can make a difference, so your participation truly matters!

IMPORTANT DATES:

February 19: 7 p.m. - In-Person Forum & Building Tours at the SHS Media Center

February 18: Register to Vote! Voter Registration must be up to date to participate in the bond referendum. 

March 4: Vote By Mail Deadline  - Vote by mail applications must arrive via mail to the County Clerk’s Office to receive a ballot in the mail. 

March 4: 7 p.m. - Virtual Forum on Zoom

March 11: VOTE in person - Registered voters may vote in person. Vote By Mail ballots must be postmarked.

  • Polls open 6 am - 8 pm at Van Derveer Elementary School and Somerville High School.

REGISTER TO VOTE:

Voters must be registered by February 18, and the registration must reflect their current address and name.

  • Check your voter registration status in the state database.

  • Register online, or update your name/address by completing a voter registration form.

  • Register by mail, print and mail a paper registration form to Somerset County Clerk, 20 Grove Street, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville, NJ 08876-1262. You can also request a voter registration application be mailed to you.

IN PERSON

  • Polls open Tuesday, March 11 from 6 am - 8 pm at Van Derveer Elementary School and Somerville High School.

PROVISIONAL BALLOTS

  • If you arrive at the polls and are told that your ballot was already mailed to you, ask for a provisional ballot.

  • This means your ballot will be considered after all in-person and mailed ballots are double-checked and processed.

Application for Vote by Mail

BY MAIL

  • You can vote by mail in this referendum. If you have already requested a ballot to be mailed to you, and if your address is the same, Somerset County may send you a Vote By Mail ballot automatically before the election. Look online for information about Vote By Mail.

  • If you have questions or require assistance, contact the Election Office at 908-231-7013 or countyclerk@co.somerset.nj.us

  • To request a Vote By Mail ballot, download an application here. The county must receive that application by mail by March 4 to mail you a ballot, or in-person by 3 p.m. on March 10 to give you a ballot in person

  • When you receive your Vote By Mail ballot, fill it out and either:   

    • Mail it in with a postmark by March 11, or 

    • Deliver it in person to the County Clerk’s Office or leave it in a drop box before polls close on March 11.

Mail-in ballots cannot be submitted at polling places.
