Technology, the internet, and social media have become a big part of all of our lives. Modern technology has brought with it great advances and unforeseen challenges. Among the most demanding of these challenges is the need to ensure our children know how to use the internet in a healthy and productive way.

The Somerville School District has partnered with Securly to filter and manage students’ Internet use.  This filter is applied to all Somerville owned student devices used both in school and at home.  

Securly has the Securly Home Parent Portal for parents and guardians.  This app allows you to:

•  view and adjust your child’s online activity at home, 

• receive weekly email reports about Internet use, 

• receive urgent alerts of flagged activity notifications, including signs of potential self-harm, 

• and help balance their time online while at home.
